Dates confirmed for 80th AIPS Congress in Seoul and PyeongChang: May 9-13

VIGEVANO - The 80th annual AIPS Congress will be held in Seoul and the Olympic city of PyeongChang, South Korea from May 9-13, 2017. The dates were confirmed during the final day of the AIPS Executive Committee meeting on Thursday in Vigevano, Italy.

The milestone 80th AIPS Congress will provide members the opportunity to discuss the current issues in sports journalism and international sport, all the while providing the suitable and ideally current Olympic backdrop in the region set to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

The first two days of the Congress will be in the capital Seoul, in the centrally-located Lotte hotel, after which AIPS delegates and guests will move to PeyongChang where they will have the opportunity to visit the mountain clusters and official venues of the Winter Games.

Elective Congress

Along with starting the Olympic countdown to PyeongChang 2018, next year’s AIPS Congress will also be elective in nature, marking a new four-year term for the association’s leadership. The final full day of the Congress in PyeongChang will include elections for the positions of president, vice president, treasurer and for the members of the Executive Committee. Elections will also be held for the Executive Committee of the AIPS Europe and AIPS Africa.

As further confirmed during the EC Meeting in Vigevano, those members wishing to submit candidatures for positions within AIPS and its continental sections have until the end of February 9 (11:59 GMT) to do so.
