The vice-president of the Romanian Sports Press Association, Dumitru Graur, was awarded the Order of Olympic Excellence by the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) on Thursday, September 12. The renowned journalist received the distinction, handed to him by the great Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci, in the Amphitheater Hall of the COSR.
"Today, when the COSR General Assembly awarded me the Order of Olympic Excellence, it was a great honour for me and perhaps the fulfilment of a lifetime profession. And the presence of Nadia Comăneci added more weight to the event," declared Graur.
The distinction also honours the entire family of sports journalists in Romania. Dumitru Graur is one of the best-known sports journalists in the country, having a prodigious career both in television and print for more than 50 years.
Graur has been part of the management of the Sports Press Association since 2011, being the president of this organisation for three terms (12 years). After Catalin Tepelin became the new president of the Association in 2023, Dumitru Graur stayed on as vice President to help with his experience.
