The Moroccan Sports Press Association (AMPS), the Spanish Sports Press Association (AEPD) and the Portuguese Sports Press Association (CNID), on Wednesday, September 18 in Tangier, signed a cooperation protocol in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup, co-organized by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
This protocol aims to establish a common cooperation framework, taking advantage of the shared football and cultural heritage, while unifying professional efforts to support major initiatives related to this major event. It aims to build bridges between sports journalists from the three countries, fostering the sharing of experiences and the sustainability of the legacy left by this World Cup.
STRONG MOMENT During the signing ceremony, AMPS President Badreddine Drissi said that this protocol represents “a strong moment” of collaboration aimed at supporting the efforts of the three countries to organize one of the most successful and memorable editions of the World Cup. He stressed the importance of the role of the media in the success of these events, with a view to offering a unique and unprecedented experience.
LEVERAGE THE MEDIA EXPERIENCE AEPD Vice President Jesus Alvarez added that “the protocol will make it possible to leverage the media experience of each country and support journalists covering the 2030 World Cup, while coordinating efforts with FIFA to prepare for this event.”
STRENGTHEN ROLE OF JOURNALISTS Finally, Manuel Queiroz, President of the CNID, highlighted that this protocol "will strengthen the role of journalists in documenting the World Cup and highlighting the culture of each country, emphasizing that this event will be an opportunity to bring people together beyond their cultural differences."
This Memorandum of Understanding aims to:
- Create a Joint Commission composed of two members from each association, in order to harmonize the work of journalists from the three countries and promote the 2030 World Cup.
- Raise awareness among journalists from the three countries of the importance of the World Cup.
- Facilitate the work of journalists, particularly those from the host countries, before and during the 2030 World Cup.
- Exchange expertise and information, focusing on preparing young journalists for this major event.
During this event, the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) was also represented by the members of its Executive Committee, Morad Moutaouakkil and Juan Antonio Priet
