The submission period for the AIPS Sport Media Awards will close on Monday 4 November, 10pm Central European Time. If you haven't submitted your work yet, please proceed as soon as possible to have your place in the world's biggest sports festival guaranteed. More than 120 nationalities are already represented in this edition. All submissions should be placed logging in the AIPS Sport Media Awards website.
KEY DATES Organised by AIPS, the International Sport Press Association that has turned 100 years old this year, the Awards accept works published or broadcast in traditional sports media and in new digital channels. All works first published/broadcast since 5 November 2023 are valid. For the photos, all images taken since 5 November 2023 are accepted.
This prestigious event celebrates excellence in sports journalism and recognises the outstanding contributions of media professionals around the globe.
GLOBAL. REALLY. Since their launch in 2018, the AIPS Awards have received journalistic applications from more than 5400 journalists, photographers and video makers, representing 165 countries. After six editions, we are proud to have crowned winners from the five continents across the 9 categories.
NETWORKING AND OPPORTUNITIES The AIPS Sport Media Awards also enabled young journalists, including those recognised in the continental rankings and special mentions, to participate in development programmes across the Americas, Europe and Asia. FREE ENTRY. To register and submit, all you must do is register and then submit two entries in PDF, JPG, MP3, MPG or similar format. As always, it's completely free.
LANGUAGES. Journalists can participate directly with their work in any language. Applications are free and AIPS membership is not required to participate.
PRIZES. Those selected for the podium will receive an invitation to travel, a trophy on stage and a money prize ranging between $ 2,000 (third place), $ 3,000 (second place) and $ 8,000 (first place) in every senior category.
CATEGORIES. The categories are 1) Photography - Sports Action; 2) Photography - Portfolio; 3) Written Press - Best Colour Piece; 4) Written Press, Best Column. 5) Audio. 6) Video - Documentary of more than 10 minutes; 7) Video - Athlete Profile longer than 10 minutes; 8) Short Video of up to 10 minutes. For those born since 1995 there's an optional Young Reporters category that guarantees a scholarship at a top international event to the three winners.
CONTINENTAL RANKINGS. On top of the final rankings, the Awards also celebrates continental achievements for each category, published shortly after the ceremony.
SPECIAL COMMENDATIONS. Diplomas for works aligned with AIPS cornerstone values were introduced in 2022 and represent another way to celebrate our profession. In this way, we've managed to highlight more than 30 additional works, aside from the winners, that deserved recognition for their contribution.
FINAL CEREMONY. Finalists from the senior categories are invited to the final ceremony, set for late April/early May 2025, as it happened in Lausanne, Switzerland (2019); Budapest, Hungary (2020); Vigevano, Italy (2021): Doha, Qatar (2022); Seoul, South Korea (2023); and Santa Susanna, Spain (2024).
