Every year is a celebration of Hungarian sports journalism with the most important print publication of the year, the Sports Yearbook - published every year since the 1988 Olympics.
Collecting the most outstanding Hungarian sporting achievements of the year 2024 with photos, interviews, publicist articles, columns and statistics, the book features 500 photos taken by Hungarian sports photographers, the Hungarian News Agency, MTI, and Reuters. More than a million characters have been typed by nearly 40 authors, and it is very important that the publication has been supported by the Hungarian Sports Journalists Association (HSJA) for more than ten years, both financially and through journalistic work, in addition to the Hungarian Olympic Committee.
“In line with the outstanding performances and gold medals of Hungarian athletes at the Paris Olympics, this year's Sports Yearbook has been published in a gold binding, and it is a great pleasure to be able to summarize the year of 2024 from the perspective of so many Hungarian sports journalists," said György Szöllősi, President of the HSJA on the occasion of the book's publication.
JOURNALISTS ON THE PODIUM At the event, which was also attended by Hungarian Olympic pentathlon champion Michel Gulyás and members of the Olympic champion Hungarian men's epee team, AIPS certificates and diplomas of appreciation were awarded to colleagues who have covered ten or more Olympics and were unable to attend the AIPS Centennial event at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris due to work commitments. The photographer Peter Szalmás and the two sports journalists, Attila Ághassi , and Gergely Csurka received the recognition from Zsuzsa Csisztu, the Vice president of HSJA and AIPS.
"We are delighted that Hungarian colleagues committed to the Olympics were able to receive the well-deserved international AIPS recognition in front of the most important professional and Olympic community in Hungary,” said Zsuzsa Csisztu.
